Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 July 2026

At Ave Europa, accessible at https://ave-europa.eu, we are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

Who we are
Ave Europa International (“we”, “the controller”), registered in Denmark under CVR number 45776867, is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at privacy@ave-europa.eu, or our data protection contact at dpo@ave-europa.eu.

1. What Information We Collect

We collect personal data you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Any information submitted through contact forms or account registration
  • Payment and Billing Information: If you make a donation, we collect your billing address and payment details. Note that for credit card payments, we do not store your full credit card number on our servers; this is handled securely by our payment processors.
  • If you apply for membership, we also collect information about you that is publicly available online — including public social-media profiles (e.g. LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram) — to the extent it is openly accessible without circumventing any privacy setting or login restriction. See “Membership applications” below.

We may also automatically collect:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device and operating system
  • Pages visited and duration of visit

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information may be used to:

  • Respond to inquiries
  • Register and manage user accounts
  • Improve website performance
  • Send important updates or newsletters (if subscribed)
  • Ensure site security and prevent fraud
  • Process donations and issue donation receipts.
  • Comply with tax and legal obligations regarding financial transactions.
  • Detect and prevent fraudulent transactions.
  • Assess and process membership applications.

Our legal bases. We rely on: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for collecting publicly available information about membership applicants, and explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) where that information reveals political opinions; contract or steps prior to a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) to manage your membership and account; legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) for tax and accounting records; and legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for site security, fraud prevention, and improving the website.

3. Sharing of Data

We do not sell or rent your personal data. However, we share data with trusted third-parties strictly to support our operations:

  • Service Providers: Providers who assist with website hosting and maintenance.
  • Payment Processors: We use third-party services for payment processing (e.g., Stripe, Wise). We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy.
  • Legal & Tax Authorities: We may share transaction data with tax authorities if required by law to maintain our NGO status or for tax reporting.

4. Payment Processing

We accept donations through various methods, including Stripe, Wise, and Direct Bank Transfer.

  • Stripe: When you donate via credit card, your payment is processed by Stripe. You can view their Privacy Policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.
  • Wise & Bank Transfer: If you donate via Wise or Bank Transfer, we may see your bank account name and number on our bank statements. This information is kept strictly confidential and used only for accounting and tax receipt purposes.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to enhance your user experience. You can choose to disable cookies through your browser settings, but parts of the site may not function properly.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide you with services. However, please note that financial and donation records are retained for 7 years as required by tax law and accounting regulations, even if you request deletion of your account.

Membership application data is retained as described in “Membership applications” above: for the duration of your membership plus 24 months, or — if your application is rejected — for 12 months from the decision.

7. Your Rights

You may request:

  • Access to your data
  • Correction of inaccurate information
  • Deletion of your data (where applicable)
  • Restriction of processing
  • To object to processing
  • A copy of your data in a portable format
  • Withdrawal of any consent you have given, at any time and as easily as you gave it (this does not affect processing already carried out)

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@ave-europa.eu or dpo@ave-europa.eu.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.dk) if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully.

8. Membership Applications

When you apply to become a member of Ave Europa International, we process your data as follows.

Information we collect: the details you submit in the application form, together with information about you that is publicly available online (including public social-media profiles such as LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Instagram), collected only to the extent it is openly accessible without circumventing any privacy setting or login restriction.

Political opinions: because we are a political movement, information gathered during vetting may reveal your political opinions, which is a special category of personal data. We process it only with your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), given through the checkboxes on the application form.

How we use it: we use this information, together with your form answers, to assess your application. A human reviewer makes the final decision — the assessment is not based solely on automated processing.

Retention: if you become a member, we keep this information for as long as you remain a member and for 24 months afterwards. If your application is rejected, we keep it for 12 months from the decision, after which it is deleted.

Consent and withdrawal: each consent you give on the form is separate and voluntary. You may withdraw any of them at any time, as easily as you gave it, by contacting privacy@ave-europa.eu. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
